forever hold your peace | nopa | 06.06-06.20

i will have photographs on display at the new orleans photo alliance for the exhibit “forever hold your peace,” curated by renowned photographer sylvia plachy.  the show runs june 06 to june 20, with ms. plachy giving a gallery talk at the opening.  if in/around louisiana, please visit the exhibit at nopa.
it is an honor to be selected by ms. plachy for this exhibit, as she is an artist i have looked up to since picking up a camera.

the images are from the pacino wedding i photographed in october of 2008.  yes, he is related to al pacino.  no, al pacino did not attend the wedding.  now i do not profess to be a wedding photographer, and this is my first (and perhaps only) wedding ever photographed, but marty and valerie are friends of mine, are the very definition of a couple in love, and i was happy to provide them with photographs.  and they gave me free reign over the direction of photography (perhaps the only way i can/will shoot another wedding).
if anything, i have a newfound respect for wedding photographers.  the absolute work that goes towards attaining a balance in pleasing your own eye and the bride and groom’s (and the bride and groom’s family) is overwhelmingly difficult and indeed requires skill (in both photography, customer service, business acumen, and social aptitude) as well as endurance and a thick skin.
